How The Bachelor Did the Impossible: Got Better Than Ever in Season 17
ABC's The Bachelor is the greatest TV success story of the 2014-15 TV season.
The evidence of the Bachelor miracle:
- The Ratings Are UP in its 13th year. While other long-running reality shows like Dancing With the Stars, American Idol and So You Think You Can Dance are scaling back on airtime, or already canceled—thanks to hemorrhaging viewers, particularly in the younger demo, ABC has been ADDING hours to this Bachelor season. Last week, they allotted five hours and the show scored a 12-week high for ABC--despite being up against the SNL 40th tribute. Yes. You read that right. Season 17. Boost in ratings. More airtime. That doesn't happen.
- The Show Is Creatively Better Than Ever. You know this if you've been watching! Oh, how we have laughed and cried and yelled things at our TV's. No other reality show has been better cast or produced or edited this season.
- It's Skewing Younger—and the #1 Chatted-About Network Show on Social Media Right Now. Last week, The Bachelor held the No. 1 and No. 2 spots for the most chatted about network shows on General Sentiment's social TV chart. More combined tweets than even The Walking Dead
Unicorn. Pooping. Rainbows.

So how did The Bachelor pull off this miracle? Chris Harrison reveals that before Chris Soules' season started, creator Mike Fleiss had a come-to-Jesus moment with his staff.
